Digital Smile Design: A Guide
Digital smile design is an advanced procedure that we offer our patients. It’s an innovative dental technology where veneers and porcelain crowns are made to match your physical appearance and facial aesthetic. Whether you have discoloured, cracked or crooked teeth, they can be digitally redesigned to get the look you want.
What does it involve?
The whole procedure is mapped out in a number of steps. Your dentist will make sure you’re completely comfortable before beginning the treatment. The first step involves taking an enhanced digital photo of your teeth, where your dentist will look at your teeth in detail. Also, a short video clip will be taken so your dentist can fully analyse the appearance of your smile and see how it looks during normal speech.
Then, your smile will undergo design analysis which enables our team of dentists to come up with a plan to create a smile that’s best for you. The information is given to the dental ceramists, dental specialists and technicians, where we then work together to create your smile.
The digital image is transformed into a 3D model. Here you’ll be able to see how your new smile will look and at this stage, you can make any final adjustments. Once you’re happy with the design, your dentist will start preparing the actual treatment process.
The result
The best thing about digital smile design is that it can often be completed in just two visits to the dentist. Once you’ve completed the treatment, your dentist will take pictures and video clips again, but this time you’ll have a smile that you love!
