Chocolate is good for you!
Chocolate can actually be good for your health! Yes, you read that correctly. Now, let’s not get over excited and run to the supermarket, only chocolate that is as close to the bean as possible is good for you. So, this means dark chocolate is good; the higher the flavonoids (good stuff) the purer the chocolate and the healthier. Bad news, if like me you prefer flavoured chocolate :(
So, next time you get the urge to munch on a bar of chocolate STOP and have a look at the percentage have you ever looked at the cacao content, as this needs to be between 35 and 100 percent.
Did you know that a 100% cacao chocolate bar also has no added fat or sugar? That makes eating chocolate and dieting almost pleasurable!
Milk chocolate – white chocolate and flavour filled chocolate (my favourite) just don’t have enough flavonoids to reap health benefits. White chocolate doesn’t contain any cocoa solids plus its higher in calories and sugar too.
A 1.5oz serving of milk chocolate = 230 calories and has 25grms of sugar, whilst its bitter and healthier alternative the dark chocolate has 180calories and 15grms of sugar.
