Are your teeth easily irritated and overly sensitive?
Do you experience pain where you brush your teeth?
Is eating cold or hot food painful?
Tooth sensitivity is caused by the exposure of dentin. This is the soft part of the tooth which covers the nerves. Hypersensitivity in the teeth is a common problem, and it occurs when certain foods or hot temperatures irritate the nerves in the teeth, which can release a painful sensation. The pain usually ceases over a period of time, but it can persist for longer periods. If you eat a lot of acidic foods, it’s important to rinse your mouth with water afterward to prevent damage to your enamel.
Not only can eating and drinking cause tooth sensitivity, but also brushing too hard and using abrasive toothpaste. Always make sure to be thorough, but gentle when brushing your teeth. Also, certain illnesses such as bulimia can cause hypersensitivity and damage to the teeth surfaces.
Do you want your teeth to get back to feeling normal? That’s why we offer a number of treatments and we can help find those that are best suited to you. We offer great solutions to patients in the Fulham area, as well those in Central and West London.
We will examine your teeth to find out why they are sensitive, and look for any signs of dentin exposure. And we will analyse and then determine what is causing your sensitivity, which could be a result of a number of factors. Don’t simply put up with sensitive teeth. Make sure you visit your dentist if you are concerned about any teeth pain.
At Pure Smiles, we help patients feel confident with their teeth and especially try to treat any pain you may be experiencing.
