Gum regenerative treatment from Pure Smiles:
What is the treatment for gum recession?
Receding gums, also known as Gingival recession, is the exposure of the roots in the teeth, caused by a loss of gum tissue. This can occur for a number of different reasons, such as improper dental care, vigorous brushing and teeth grinding. If left untreated, there is a greater risk of decay and eventual loss of the teeth.
Your gums won’t return on their own. Once the gum has receded, it won’t grow back but there are ways to treat the issue. Periodontal treatments and gum regeneration is now possible. We offer a range of treatments, depending on the severity of your gum recession.
Typical treatments we offer include; antimicrobial therapy, treatment of gum and periodontal abscesses and management of loose teeth. Also, we offer other treatments such as alloplast and Emdogain regeneration. Your dentist will assess which type of treatment is most suitable for you.
Recession of the gum tissue is just one of many gum diseases, and it may occur independently of any other infective dental disease.
Gum recession is often gradual, but it may result in sensitivity and the teeth appearing longer than normal, as the roots become exposed.
